February 2002

1 Feb - back to Laughlin, free parking on Riverside Casino then visited Jaylene and Doc in Henderson.

On 4th February, 10 miles on to Circus Circus to get ready for Ian Lynda and David and Vicky's visit. We booked them into Manor C.C. and us on R.V. parking

We enjoyed our week with them, as tourists, hired car for 3 days and took them Red Rock Canyon and Bonnie Springs Ranch. Visited Hoover Dam and Echo Bay. Was hot enough for a little swimming but quite cold at night. As a treat we booked stretch limo for their return to airport. Met up with Bill and Linda for one day again.

On 15th feb we traveled west through Parumph to Shoshone Death Valley. It was one of our surprises, much prettier than we had though. High canyons, salt flats, and coyotes, all there.

On 17 Feb, was very windy we had to stay, no hardship.

Came out of Death Valley at Stovepipes beautiful views. Passed LAVA beds and BORASIC mining plants, beauty in their own way. Yukka Valley, passed Desert Springs and east back into Quartzsite.

It was hot and busy. So we traveled through Gila Bend. We parked free beside a rodeo ground. Watched small town roping.

On Sat 23rd February, parade and cattle drive, very small town, but we enjoyed it. Our next night stop was AJO Camping with hot tub, ran by brother of "Nancy" of OLIVER TWIST fame. He was her double. {Shani Wallis?}

24 Feb to Organ Pipes State Park. Excellent, so many different cacti, organised walks, beautiful setting. Organ pipe cacti, this was further north they grew, mostly in Mexico. Pleasant to spend few days relaxing. Stopped in Why, used laundromat, then drove through Indian reservation, no place to park. We pulled into small park on outskirts of Tucson, very small parking place, by shower room and office. We joined Passport America camping club](https://www.passportamerica.com/)) $44 for 15 months, but some parks 1/2 price was worth it, though parks are few and far between in some states. $9 for site outside caverns south of Tucson. Was very good value. Quite cold. Everywhere we went we were told it was colder this year.
